February 24 & 25, 2016 Enneagram Continued

Do Now: Strengths and Weaknesses

Respond to the following using the Google Classroom assignment:

Reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of the Enneagram personality type you identified last class using a Google Doc attached to the assignment.

  1. What strength do you most associate with?

  2. What weakness do you recognize in yourself and what do you want to do to improve?

Objective:  Students will explore the 9 Eneagram personality types to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of each one and how each type works with the others.

February 22 & 23, 2016 Enneagram

Do Now:

Using the 6 Trait Response outline, write a paragraph describing your personality.  Include details to explain the key characteristic of your personality.

  • What do you like?
  • What don’t you like?
  • How do you make decisions?
  • How do you respond to other people?
  • When do you feel most comfortable?
  • When do you feel most uncomfortable?
  • How best do you learn?

Objective:  Students will explore their personality using the enneagram test.

Open the first link below and complete the Enneagram Test to get feedback on your personality.

When you have your results, read the description of your personality and decide if this is an accurate description of you.

If you agree, open the second link and read more about your personality, your strengths and areas for improvement and how you interact with the other personality types.

If you don’t agree decide if you want to take the test again to get a different result or read about the personality that your first result identified

In a Google Doc identify three strengths and three areas for improvement that you agree with and want to explore further.  Describe why you agree and why you want to explore these in more detail.

February 18 & 19, 2016 Interview Skills Presentation

Objective:  Students will complete the Interview Skills Google Slides presentation they started last class and share their oral presentations with the class.

Assignment:  Complete the Interview Skills presentation you started last class.  You will have 30 minutes to complete your presentation and link it to your Google Docs Journal.  The last 60 minutes of class will be devoted to presentations.  As you listen to your classmates you will identify three Interview skills that you did not include in your presentation and record them in your Google Docs journal.

February 16 – 19, 2016 Prepare for an Interview

What three qualities do you think employers value the most in an employee. Explain.

Objective:

  • Review what makes an effective Google Slide presentation.
  • Working individually and collaboratively, you will explore and understand what Teenagers should do to prepare themselves for a job interview.

Today: Your school counseling department has asked you to prepare a presentation that can be used to explain how to prepare for a job interview.  You will read the article Job Interview Strategies for Teens: Part I — Interview Preparation (link) and Google search other sources on how to prepare for a job interview. You will prepare a Google slide presentation including what you consider to be the most important tips.  Link your presentation to the assignment in Google Classroom.

Exceptional work: To be considered for an “A” on this project you will make a brief oral presentation the second half of the period next class

 

February 9 – 12, 2016 Where will you be in 10 Years?

Do Now:

In a short constructed response, describe where you think you will be and what you think you will be doing in 10 years using a Google Doc.  Follow the 6 Trait Writing a Response outline as you respond.  Be sure to use complete sentences, correct capitalization and punctuation.

Objective: Students will read technical directions to develop theirr skills with presentation software by creating and editing a presentation in Google Slides.

Assignment: Present It! Project #9: Fast Forward 10 Years. Read and follow  the directions for Project #9 . The illustrations show suggested content for the seven (7) slides in the presentation. The content appearing in slides is described in detail in the instructions. You should also add additional text, word art, graphics, and background that will improve the appearance of the slides.

Exceptional work: Remember that effective presentations have brief, general bullet points in the slide and more detailed explanations in the notes.

You should also go to O-Net OnLine  to get additional details about your career and the education required. This information should be added to slides 3 and 4 or you may insert an additional slide. There elements should be present to receive a grade of “A” on the project.

February 5 & 8, 2016

Objective:  Students will use the plans developed for a Random Act of Kindness to create and distribute messages.

Assignment:  Using the kind messages that we identified on January 27, 2016 create 5 messages and identify who or where you will distribute them.  Take a photo of one or more of your notes being given to the intended recipient and post  to the assignment.
